Celebration – Tomorrow’s Here Today (single) (Bella Union)

On August 18, Baltimore’s Celebration return with their new record Albumin (artwork above) – their first since 2010’s acclaimed Electric Tarot: Hello Paradise, and their first for Bella Union.

The first single to be released from the upcoming album is Tomorrow’s Here Today. A delicious slice of psychedelia-tinged and hook-laden Tomorrow’s Here Today is as fine as guitar-pop gets.

The song’s boppy rhythms and kitschy, psychedelia-laced synths and organs give the band an art-punk twist, however – and perhaps rather oddly – on the first couple of spins, we likened Tomorrow’s Here Today to Keane circa Perfect Symmetry.

Though the track features an upbeat, swinging groove, there is an undeniable melancholy. Singer Katrina Ford’s emotive vocals are in fine form and here her melodies and hooks are pure bliss. As whole, Tomorrow’s Here Today sees Celebration’s song craft and style refined to perfection.

Wonderful stuff, and a welcomed breath of fresh air.

Albumin will be released 18th August on Bella Union. Pre-order now.
