Cash+David – Funn (single) (self-released)

Funn is the debut single from new London electro-pop duo, Cash+David.

Their darkened electro-pop sits alongside Chvrches and Phantogram.

At less than 2 and half minutes in duration, one might expect Funn follow a formulaic pop structure. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. The song’s arrangement is surprisingly complex with odd little twists and turns.

Interestingly, Funn doesn’t have a traditional chorus and instead opts for a crunchy and catchy guitar riff to take its place. The “chorus” then leads into a boppy, synth-driven bridge – sans vocals again – and adds a new colour to Cash+David’s palette.

The addition of guitars set against the duo’s synth dominated sound give Cash+David a grittiness that contrasts the syrupy, female-vocal led verses.

A promising start and one to keep a watch of throughout 2014.

Funn will be released as a single 10 March, 2014. Pre-order via iTunes now.
