The Courteeners – Van Der Graaf (single) (V2)

If you looking for stadium-sized, earnest indie-rock you really can’t do much better than Manchester’s Courteeners.

“Van Der Graaf” is the second single from the band’s recently released fourth studio album ‘ANNA’ (cover art above).

With every release they get ever closer to playing stadiums and in July the band will embark on their biggest ever tour of UK and Ireland with 20 sold out shows, each show hosting a capacity of 8,000 fans per night, including a packed out show at London’s Brixton Academy.

Therefore it’s fitting that “Van Der Graaf” is suitably epic and anthemic. A little bit Snow Patrol, a little bit Manic Street Preachers, a little bit Stereophonics, it mightn’t reinvent rock music as we know it but its massive chorus, guitar melodies, soaring vocals and earnest qualities suck you in. Add some tasty guitar riffing and you’ve got one massive hit.

“Van Der Graaf” will be released as a single on 6 May, 2013 while the album, ‘ANNA’, is available now.
