Josef Salvat – This Life (BWANA Remix) (single) (ASL Records)

Australian singer songwriter Josef Salvat set the Internet alight last month with the song “This Life” (watch video below). Now this already atmospheric and moving track has been given further treatment by Canadian producer BWANA who has been championed by the likes of Radio 1 DJ’s Skream & Benga and Rob Da Bank.

The original version is rhythmic enough as it is but after BWANA gets his hands on this, it becomes even more so. The remix starts out with cool jazzy brush strokes before the kick drum enters and gives the song a steady pulse. Stripping back for a moving and atmospheric verse, it’s here “This Life” takes on James Blake-like quality (think “CMYK”).

Elegantly building to the two minute mark where emotive and atmospheric synths take centre stage for the song’s chorus, backed by a four-to-the-floor beat with handclaps to boot. Retaining the song’s original pop arrangement, BWANA’s remix is a certified gem.

The single ‘This Life’ will be released digitally and as a limited edition 7″ on 25 March, 2013. Pre-order the limited edition 7″ vinyl now (500 units only).
