Although you may be able to find live cuts of other tracks floating about online, “Step Up For The Cool Cats” is officially the third track to surface from this hotly tipped, much talked about, and exciting new UK indie-rock act, Palma Violets.

The new track follows the band’s debut single “Best of Friends / Last of The Summer Wine” (read our review of “Best of Friends” and “Last of the Summer Wine“), which was released back in October 2012 and went on to win NME’s Track of the Year 2012.

It has to be said; the entire opening section sounds uncannily like The Monkees “I’m A Believer”. The song quickly twists and turns, and Palma Violets put their own stamp on things.

“Step Up For The Cool Cats” has all the rawness and vitality of their debut single and like it, here the quartet mix The Clash, The Walkmen, and The Vaccines along with a hint of Arctic Monkeys (think ‘Suck It And See’) to create an exciting and exhilarating brand of indie-rock.

It has all the hooks including one hell of a chorus to be ensure that it’s an indie-rock anthem to be.

Another thrilling ride leading up to band’s forthcoming album entitled 180′, which is set for release on 25 February 2013 through the legendary Rough Trade Records label.
