Bat For Lashes – All Your Gold (single) (Parlophone / EMI)

Following the release of the heartbreakingly gorgeous first single “Laura” (read review) released in July, “All Your Gold” is the second single taken from Bat For Lashes’ upcoming third album, ‘The Haunted Man”.

When you think of Bat For Lashes, you’d usually think of lush keyboards, odd arrangements and equally peculiar instrumentation. An up-beat and dancey track “All Your Gold” is the most direct Bat For Lashes track to date where instruments are essentially kept to a minimum. Driven by a single muted-guitar, and backed by tight electronic beats during the chorus, keyboards and synth-hits are added during the chorus giving the song levity while subtle harp-like strings make a cameo during the second verse.

“All Your Gold” features a gorgeous and euphoric chorus, sung with compelling vulnerability. Suitably, the lyrics in “All Your Gold”, like “Laura” before it, are a lot more naked and vulnerable than the pagan-like fantasy themes contained on the two albums prior (“Fur & Gold” and “Two Suns”) too.

All that being said, there are no doubts that this is Bat For Lashes (aka Natasha Khan) and “All Your Gold” is a brilliant pop tune that only adds to the anticipation of the forthcoming album.

The album ‘The Haunted Man’ is set for release on October 15, 2012 and is available for pre-order from the Bat For Lashes website.
